Protect Your Property With Chimney Inspections

The National Fire Protection Association recommends that all chimneys be inspected at least once per year. Regular inspections can dramatically reduce your risk of a chimney fire caused by blockages or flammable buildup. This is the same advice we provide for customers at Advance Chimney.

Additionally, we recommend more frequent inspections if you're noticing signs of poor performance. These signs could include:

  • Cracking of bricks
  • Large soot deposits
  • Abnormal smoke venting

To make sure you get the best results for your chimney, always choose a licensed contractor. At Advance Chimney, we're members of the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). This ensures we have the skills, tools, and training needed to accurately and safely inspect your chimney.

After your inspection, we may recommend repairs, sweeping, or maintenance. Our inspections do not come with an obligation of service. However, we do encourage you to act quickly on our recommendations, and you can always trust us for quality. We even offer a promo worth the price of your inspection when you book with us!

The Levels of a Chimney Inspection

Not all chimney inspections are the same. At Advance Chimney, we can perform three levels of inspections for your chimney.

A level one inspection includes a check for soundness or durability, and it covers the structural parts of the chimney, fireplace, and flue. During a level one inspection, we'll look for signs of wear and tear, and we'll tell you what needs to be maintained.

Then, we'll make sure the chimney doesn't allow any combustibles to come into contact with parts of your house outside the chimney. Finally, we'll remove any debris from inside the chimney to prevent blockages. This could include nests, leaves, or animals that may have gotten inside.

As a last step during a level one inspection, we will assess combustible byproducts like creosote to make sure they haven't built up on the chimney walls. This material can cause fires. In most cases, a level one inspection is sufficient to safely operate a regularly used fireplace with no known issues on an annual basis.

A level two inspection is recommended after a malfunction or damage. This is recommended if your fireplace is having problems or a natural disaster has damaged the chimney. We also recommend level two inspections when you're changing the system's fuel type or adding a liner. It includes video scanning.

Finally, a level three inspection is the most in-depth type we offer. We do a level three inspection if we need to access parts of your home that are usually sealed off by walls. This is also recommended if problems show up in a level two inspection. We'll carefully assess your situation before performing a level three inspection.

What to Expect During Your Chimney Inspection

A chimney inspection will usually take less than two hours. With Advance Chimney, our expert team can usually finish it faster! We'll check all the working parts, and we'll make sure everything is safe and functional.

We know that cost is a concern for many of our customers, but we never want the price to stop you from staying safe. A standard inspection will cost less than $250. Price is impacted by the number of chimneys, the access to the chimney, and the type of chimney. You may also have coupons you can use to lower your price!

I would recommend this company to anyone. I had them come out to inspect my chimney because it hadn't been used since purchasing my home. They were honest and informed me the chimney was not in working order and gave me suggestions to have it worked on.
